Over the last 40 years my husband Gary and I have been active members of Sailing & Yacht clubs, mostly in the Bay & Delta Area. During this same period we have also owned a home in South Lake Tahoe. So when we moved to Roseville in 2008 and began spending much more time in Tahoe it seemed only right that we would become involved with the South Lake Tahoe Yacht Club. We have been active members of the Pacific Inter-Club Yacht Association (PICYA) for many years and are now serving as Delegates for the SLTYC. I am looking forward to a successful year serving as the 2018 SLTYC Commodore. This year we hope to have many fun activities and to grow our club.

Life has always been an adventure for me as I enjoy change and keeping things fresh. With an MBA in hand, I chose to run my own business, and as such, it keeps me very busy. At the same time, I make my own schedule affording me time to spend with my wonderful family, my one absolute constant in my life. I got to know the Tahoe area as a snow skier. Then my wife introduced me to life in Tahoe in the summer and I became hooked on year-round adventures in and around the Lake Tahoe area. We are now fortunate to live here half-time enjoying the winter ski season and summer lake activities. It was my pleasure to have been your Commodore for 2015-2017.

I always loved going to the beach as a child. Then, as a teenager, my love for the water and the mountains of the Lake Tahoe area began when I first saw the lake as the family car crested the pass on Highway 50 and I caught my first glimpse of that big blue expanse; a sight I will never forget. Since then, it has been water skiing, wake boarding, wake surfing and stand-up paddle boarding and it has been both a sailing and life-long power boat adventure. Somewhere in all of this I have accomplished a Master’s Degree, a life-long teaching career and raised two wonderful daughters. I have now come full circle and feel privileged to enjoy life with my husband in both South Lake Tahoe and the Bay Area spending about half the year in each location.

My husband, John, and I moved to South Lake Tahoe in June of 2008 after living and working in Los Angeles for over 40 years. I was born in the mid-west and moved to LA after graduate school. I taught High School Biology in Playa del Rey for 10 years and then changed careers by working in administration at Hughes Aircraft Company/Boeing for 20 years. I met my husband, John, at Hughes and we raised two sons in Westchester, CA. Upon retiring to SLT, John and I have been busy remodeling our home, volunteering with Bread & Broth, beginning our long awaited travels to Europe, enjoying sailing on Lake Tahoe and, in the last 2 summers, joining the SLTYC. My favorite activities here at the lake are walking and hiking with my dog, skiing and having my sons visit.

I have been visiting Lake Tahoe my entire life for both winter and summer activities. My family has had a house in Truckee for as long as I can remember and in 2013 we finally got our house on the water in Tahoe Keys. My favorite part about being on the water on Lake Tahoe is that I don't have to put shoes on to go out on our boat!
